Except the 2016 Melbourne Cup itself the fields for Melbourne Cup day have been released and they are big.
Melbourne Cup day will have nine support races for the Melbourne Cup itself with 164 acceptances in those nine races at an average of eighteen runners per race.
The Melbourne Cup is the only Group 1 race on the card but there are two Group 3 races and three Listed races on the ten race program.
Racing on Melbourne Cup day will kick off at 10:40am with the feature race the Melbourne Cup running at 3pm.

Race 7: Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) – 3pm

The Melbourne Cup Field will be released Saturday night following Derby Day with the Field and Barriers to be released at approx. 7pm.
