Champion mare Black Caviar has given birth to her second foal overnight in the Hunter Valley.
The foal is a colt out of Golden Slipper winner, Sebring, who also sired group one winners Criterion and Dissident.
This is Black Caviar’s second foal, after giving birth last year to a filly out of Exceed and Excel.
There’s some serious sprinting chops in the bloodline here; Sebring won all but one of his starts as a two-year-old, while the great mare remained undefeated over her entire career, including a mind boggling 15 group one wins.
If the unlikely case that the colt goes to the sales, it is expected to fetch a record price, breaking the $5 million mark. Here’s hoping we have another champion to cheer on in a few years!
