Racing fans will be tuning into the first race at Sale on Sunday ahead of Persian Caviar’s debut, as the seventh foal of the late Black Caviar steps out for her first start.
The three-year-old filly by Written Tycoon has drawn barrier 14 in the 1100m contest but will move in after scratchings, with Beau Mertens taking the ride for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.
Despite being a $11 outsider with online betting sites, Persian Caviar has shown promise, finishing second in a recent trial at Pakenham. She faces stiff competition from $2.50 favourite The Viking, another debutant boasting strong bloodlines as a descendant of Black Caviar’s family.
Later in the meeting, Time Of My Life, a half-sister to champion mare Winx, returns from a year-long spell. Trained by Moody and Coleman, the $3.70 favourite will be ridden by Blake Shinn in the BM64 over 1100m.
With two blueblood runners, Sunday’s Sale meeting promises to be one to put into your racing calendar.
