In a key jockey change ahead of the Group 3 Sandown Stakes, Victorian jockey Blake Shinn is set to replace Jimmy Orman on the much-discussed horse, Antino.
The decision comes in the wake of the horse’s disappointing showing at The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington last weekend. Orman, who had ridden Antino in all prior starts, faced difficulties securing a clear route during the race.
The move was confirmed after consultations among the horse’s Hong Kong-based ownership group, who expressed a preference for a local Victorian rider for the Sandown Stakes on October 1.
Despite the setback at Flemington, Antino is listed as a $5.00 third favourite for the Group 1 Toorak Handicap scheduled for October 14.
The change allows Orman the potential to participate in Sydney’s upcoming The Kosciuszko (1200m), where he may ride equal favourite Far Too Easy.
