Australian jockey Brenton Avdulla finally tasted success in Hong Kong, securing his maiden win in the region after 50 attempts.
Avdulla steered Go Go Sixteen, trained by Manfred Man, to victory in the Class 4 Ma Liu Shui Handicap over 1600 meters at Sha Tin.
Expressing his excitement, Avdulla admitted he had no expectations coming into the race, given the challenging nature of Hong Kong racing.
“There have riders who have come here with better credentials than me in the past and have struggled.” Avdulla said.
“Obviously, Hong Kong is a very tough jurisdiction, and I’m very thankful for Manfred to give me an opportunity on a horse like this to get the job done,”
Avdulla’s perseverance paid off, proving that success can come to those who persist, even in a tough jurisdiction like Hong Kong.
