Racing participants in Queensland have been left in the dark a day out of Saturday’s Gold Coast meeting after Brisbane was ordered to go into a three day lockdown.
Despite the lockdown being announced this morning Racing Queensland are yet to update participants on whether Saturday’s feature meeting at the Gold Coast will run as planned.
The Gold Coast meeting which is headlined by the $250,000 The Wave is one of the main lead-ups to the rich Magic Millions raceday with many trainers either needing their horses to win to gain a start or require their horses to race for fitness prior to their targeted races.
Racing around the country was able to proceed last year during COVID lockdowns and Racing Queensland is hopeful the protocols that allowed that to happen can be used again in this instance.
