Godolphin star Broadsiding signalled a strong autumn campaign with a comfortable trial win over 1000m at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.
Ridden by James McDonald, the triple Group 1-winning colt travelled under a tight hold, easing past Too Darn Lizzie, with stablemate Tom Kitten finishing close-up in third.
Trainer James Cummings has mapped out a Sydney-focused autumn, mirroring Anamoe’s 2022 path. Broadsiding is set to resume in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) on February 22, followed by the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 8 and the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on March 22.
His next move will depend on form, with options including the ATC Derby (2400m) on April 6 or the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on April 13.
Cummings has ruled out a Melbourne campaign, citing the colt’s preference for Sydney’s clockwise tracks after a below-par Champions Mile run in the spring.
Meanwhile, former Irish stayer Vauban made his Australian trial debut for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott in the same heat, closing off well after settling at the back.
The ex-Melbourne Cup runner is expected to trial again before making his local racing debut.
