Caulfield Cup prize money increased to $5million

After the announcement that the Cox Plate prize money had been increased to $5million the Melbourne Racing Club made a separate announcement regarding the Caulfield Cup which is now also worth $5million dollars.

The Caulfield Cup which had previously been worth $3,00,000 will have an increase of $2,000,000 to bring it up to speed with prize money increases seen in Sydney’s Autumn Carnival as well as the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley during the Spring sitting it at the equal third richest race in Australia behind The Everest, Melbourne Cup and level with the Cox Plate.
