Trainer Joe Pride is considering a bold move for his rising star Ceolwulf, aiming for a seven-day Group 1 double.
Ceolwulf is set to race in the $5 million King Charles III Stakes (1600m) at Randwick this Saturday, with the possibility of backing up for the prestigious $5 million Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley just a week later.
Pride is eyeing the challenge to season Ceolwulf ahead of a possible autumn campaign, which could include major races like the All-Star Mile and Australian Cup.
โI do find with a young horse a trip away does season them up well,โ said Pride, who is also considering a run in the $3 million Champions Stakes at Flemington in November if Ceolwulf skips the Cox Plate.
Ceolwulf is currently third favourite for the King Charles III Stakes at $6 with online betting sites.
