Cox Plate winner set to retire

Cox Plate winner Lys Gracieux is set to retire at the end of the year with one more start in the pipeline for the star mare.

Lys Gracieux will be retired following her run in the Group 1 Arima Kinen (2500m) on December 22 in Japan.

“The Arima Memorial will be the last run. Jockey is still undecided” said the mare’s trainer Yoshito Yahagi.

Lys Gracieux smashed her rivals as the heavily backed favourite in the Cox Plate last month.
