Jason Coyle confident of another Group One

Warwick Farm trainer Jason Coyle is confident he can win his second Group One race in Queensland even if odds makers disagree.

Coyle has Siren’s Fury who is a $17 chance in the Group One Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

He has already tasted Group One success in Brisbane with Linky Dink who won the 2009 J J Atkins Stakes at $31.

Coyle has also had plenty of other stakes success in Brisbane including the 2017 Queensland Guineas (Salsonic) and the 2017 Ascot Handicap (Sweet Serendipity).

He also won the the Group One Champagne Stakes at Randwick with Onemorenomore.

Coyle admits he is bemused by the odds about Siren’s Fury who won the Group Three Dark Jewel at Scone and was an eye-catching fourth in the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes at Doomben two weeks ago.

Coyle is happy with Siren’s Fury drawing barrier two and believes it gives her a good chance.

“She had to go back from the barrier (15) in the Dane Ripper but really hit the line hard,” Coyle said.

“Siren’s Fury has barrier two on Saturday and should be able to lob closer. She was closer than we wanted in the Dark Jewel but there was no early pace. I think there will be a lot more pace on Saturday which suits us.”

“I think she will be right in the finish no matter what the odds setters think.”

Tegan Harrison who has ridden the mare at her past two starts retains the ride and she is confident the mare can give her a first Group One win.

Siren’s Fury was the last horse to get into the race when the 16-horse field was declared on Wednesday from 37 nominations.

Four-time Group One placegetter, three-year-old Champagne Cuddles, remained the TAB’s $5.50 favourite on Friday in an open market.

Last year’s runner-up Prompt Response was at $6.50 with last-start Hinkler Handicap winner Savanna Amour at $9 and all other runners in double figures.
