Damian Lane has been confirmed to ride Japanese galloper Prognosis in this year’s Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
The son of Deep Impact, Prognosis has an impressive record, having won three Group 2 races in Japan and finishing second in the last two editions of the Group 1 QEII Cup in Hong Kong, both times behind reigning Cox Plate champion Romantic Warrior.
Lane, with a strong track record in Japanese racing, is no stranger to success in the Cox Plate. He famously rode Lys Gracieux to become the first Japanese winner of the race in 2019.
Currently, Prognosis is the second favourite for the Cox Plate, with Ladbrokes offering odds of $6.00, as the countdown begins for The Valley’s showpiece event.
