Former trainer Darren Weir is set to face the Victorian Racing Tribunal on Monday to receive his sentence for animal cruelty charges.
The 2015 Melbourne Cup-winning trainer had pleaded guilty last March to using an electronic shock device – known as a jigger – on three racehorses under his care at Warrnambool in October 2018.
The penalty hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 am in Melbourne.
Weir previously served a four-year disqualification, which ended in February 2023, for possessing the illegal devices.
