Dean Yendall’s recovery ahead of schedule post hip surgery

Eight weeks after undergoing hip surgery, jockey Dean Yendall is experiencing significant improvement in his movement. His wife, fellow jockey Christine Puls, noticed a marked difference during a recent golf outing, observing his swing was much more fluid than before.

“If he can swing a golf club like that now, just imagine what he’ll be able to do riding in a few months,” Puls said, highlighting the positive changes since the surgery.

Yendall, who had been struggling with rigid movements and pain, admits he underestimated how much his hip was affecting his performance. “I really was underestimating how much it was stopping me getting full movement, so very happy with the results,” he shared.

Advised to take three months of minimal activity followed by a month of trackwork, Yendall is optimistic about returning to racing. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to the races,” he said.
