The Gold Coast Turf Club remains the preferred venue for Saturday’s $14m Magic Millions meeting, featuring the $3m Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Officials are racing to ensure the track’s readiness after turf replacement at the 500m mark, following damage discovered last week.
A contingency plan has been established, with Eagle Farm in Brisbane instructed to prepare as if hosting the event.
While organisers are confident in the Gold Coast track repairs, the tight timeline raises questions about safety and readiness.
If Eagle Farm is used, it will allow for fully integrated racing and hospitality, unlike last Saturday’s relocated Wave meeting, which split the racing and social components.
A final decision on the venue is expected by Thursday afternoon, giving participants and spectators time to adjust plans.
