Group 1-winning jockey Ethan Brown will take an indefinite break from race riding, stemming from the severe injuries he sustained during a harrowing fall at the Australian Guineas in March.
The accident left Brown with major internal injuries, marking a challenging path to recovery.
In an emotional post on social media platform X, Brown shared, “I thought I was ready to make my comeback to race riding after what was a life-changing fall in March”
“I worked extremely hard behind the scenes to get back in the saddle. However, I underestimated how much self confidence, self belief, dedication and determination it would take to get me back to race riding at the level I was at before the fall.
“I want to reach out and say thankyou for all the support Iβve received, especially over the last few weeks. Itβs greatly appreciated.
“Iβm going to take a bit more time to get myself back to being the best I can be. Youβll still find me riding a bit of trackwork here and there and cheering my mates home over the spring carnival. Thanks again (Ps How good did Celine ride Buffalo River on Saturday!!)”
While absent from competitive racing, Brown ensures his fans he will still participate in some trackwork and support his peers during the spring carnival.
