G1 winning jockey Nikita Beriman has announced her retirement.
The TAB National Jockeys Trust luncheon provided a significant revelation to the jockey ranks in Australia as G1 winning jockey Nikita Beriman announced to the packed crowd that she would no longer be seen amongst the declarations in the future.
Memorable for her career highlight in winning the G1 Emirates Stakes on Tears I Cry the 33yr old retires having ridden roughly 700 career winners.
Deteriorating hips and a desire to have a surgery free future were the extremely motivating factors in the announcement.
โTo start having surgery now on my hips would only ensure that I required more further down the line and I would really like to be able to have a pain free life and that wasnโt an option if I was to continue to rideโ
When asked about how she was feeling about her decision she said โI feel fantastic about it, really I do. Iv sort of said it to myself recently but iv had a fantastic career, hit all the goals and ambitions I had set myself so I retire having achieved everything I wanted and moreโ
