Oakleigh Plate winner Marabi is set to join Arrowfield Stud just before the breeding season kicks off, after the Hunter Valley powerhouse acquired the mare for $2.4 million in Tuesday’s Magic Millions virtual sale.
The Group 1 winner, offered by her breeder and owner Greg Perry while in foal to the esteemed stallion Zoustar, opened with a bid of $1 million. The bidding escalated rapidly, rising in $200,000 increments.
As a daughter of I Am Invincible, Marabi was the standout attraction in the sale, which included nearly 50 lots.
VRC Oaks placegetter Queen Air is heading to Queensland to continue her racing career after Gollan Racing purchased the daughter of Toronado for $350,000.
Meanwhile, Group 3 Magic Night Stakes winner Steel City was passed in after failing to reach her $1 million reserve by $250,000, and Group 3 winner Boognish also remained unsold with a reserve of $400,000.
