Two juveniles from the powerful Godolphin operation have been installed favourites for the respective Blue Diamond Previews at Caulfield.
The John O’Shea-trained Cohesion is the early $4 favourite for Tuesday’s colts and geldings Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) while stablemate Gridelin heads an open market for the Group Three fillies Preview at $6.
The colts and geldings division has attracted a field of 14 including the John McArdle-trained Maribyrnong Plate winner Power Trip who is on the second line at $4.40 while the unraced Paul Messara-trained colt Weatherly is at $5.
Cohesion finished fourth in the Breeders’ Plate in Sydney at his only start in October, won by star juvenile Capitalist, and the colt warmed up for his first-up assignment in the Preview with a win in a Sandown barrier trial on January 14.
The unraced Gridelin, a daughter of New Approach and sister to stakes-placed Demonstrate, also won her trial at Sandown, conducted on the back straight of the course.
Gridelin, however, has drawn the widest gate in the capacity field of 16 plus four emergencies.
Others to have drawn wide in the fillies Preview are Flemington debut winner Want To Rock (barrier 19), the Robert Smerdon-trained Pearl Congenial (18) and last-start Caulfield winner The Seductress (17).
