Hey Fat Cat has arrived in Hong Kong to continue his career under trainer Douglas Whyte.

Previously trained by Robbie Laing, Hey Fat Cat was part of the latest shipment of Australian horses to Hong Kong, arriving on Monday night.

Hey Fat Cat won two of his 10 starts in Australia and competed in the Futurity Stakes and Australian Guineas.

“He’s got a lovely action, he’s got speed, gate speed, he’s finishing a couple of lengths behind the top end there and he looks like he handles fast ground.” Douglas Whyte told Racing.com.

“When horses do come to Hong Kong, there’s a bit of a shell shock in what’s expected of them in the pressurised jurisdiction that it is.”

“But he looks like a big-enough, well-tempered-enough horse that I’m hoping he can handle all of that.”

Lotus Tower, previously undefeated and trained by Leon and Troy Corstens, has also moved to Hong Kong and will be trained by Caspar Fownes.

Maiden winners Binotto and Keefy’s Bro are also heading to Hong Kong.

Binotto, formerly with Anthony and Sam Freedman, will join David Eustace’s new stable. Keefy’s Bro, previously trained by Maddie Raymond, will join Douglas Whyte’s yard.

In total, 23 former Australian horses were included in the latest shipment to Hong Kong.

Racing in Hong Kong will resume from its annual break in September.
