Following his stunning Cox Plate victory, Romantic Warrior has returned home and is poised to defend his title in the Hong Kong Cup on December 10. Trainer Danny Shum wasted no time in bringing the superstar back to Hong Kong, with the horse flying in just two days after the thrilling Cox Plate win.
Romantic Warrior is currently in a two-week quarantine period, set to conclude next Tuesday. Despite being initially entered for the G2 BOCHK Jockey Club Cup on November 19, he will not participate in that race due to the timing.
Danny Shum clarified, “His next race will definitely be in December, 100 per cent.”
“He wonβt go to the Jockey Club Cup, because he will have only just got out (of quarantine), and the race is four days later.”
The upcoming Hong Kong Cup, contested over 2000 meters, might see a potential rematch with Cox Plate runner-up Mr. Brightside. Notable entries for the BOCHK Race Day on November 19 include California Spangle, Lucky Sweynesse, Russian Emperor, and Wellington, adding excitement to the upcoming racing season.
