James McDonald, Australia’s leading jockey, will miss Tuesday’s re-scheduled Tancred Stakes meeting at Rosehill after confirming he will not be available due to prior commitments in Dubai.
Racing NSW announced McDonald’s absence on social media, explaining that his Dubai schedule prevents him from riding at the meeting, where he was set to partner eight horses.
“Due to prior commitments in Dubai, James McDonald will not be able to partner those horses he was declared to ride at the rescheduled Rosehill Gardens meeting on Tuesday, 1 April, 2025. Replacement riders will be notified when available,” Racing NSW said.
The meeting, postponed by 72 hours due to heavy rain, will see McDonald miss rides on two Group 1 horses: filly Movin Out in the Vinery Stud Stakes and River Of Stars in the Tancred Stakes.
McDonald will return from Dubai in time for Day 2 of The Championships at Randwick on April 12.
