Star Melbourne jockey Jamie Kah is keen to compete on one of the biggest stages of all

Jamie Kah’s hopes of back-to-back wins in the Doncaster Mile have been enhanced with her booking for new favourite Forbidden Love, but she is eyeing an even bigger adventure later in the year.

Melbourne’s premier rider on Monday morning spoke of her eagerness to ride at this year’s Royal Ascot carnival.

Kah has structured her year around being in the Northern Hemisphere at the time of this year’s carnival, June 14 to 18, and has declared her availability for rides.

She is hopeful of being considered for the ride on Australia’s No 1 sprinter Nature Strip, who has been touted as a potential traveller to this year’s carnival.

“I’ve actually booked my holidays around that time of year, so I’ll be up there anyway and hopefully I can get on him or on some good chances up there,” Kah said.

“We haven’t really spoken that far ahead, there are a lot of things to play out before then, but I’ll be looking forward to a holiday at that time of year anyway.

“I’ve never ridden at the Royal Ascot meeting but (I’d be) looking forward to that, definitely.”

Kah has ridden Nature Strip in the past two editions of the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning, for a win last year and a narrow second to Home Affairs, who also has Royal Ascot on the radar.

James Mcdonald is the regular rider for both Nature Strip and Home Affairs.

Before Royal Ascot, Kah has The Championships in Sydney to concentrate on and she was on Sunday confirmed as the rider for Forbidden Love in Saturday week’s Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

The four-year-old, who landed a third Group 1 win in Saturday’s George Ryder Stakes (1500m), has just 50kg in the Doncaster, which Kah said would not be as big a problem as it might have been in the past.

“That used to be a problem for me, but it should be pretty easy for me this weekend because my weight’s really good,” Kah told RSN927’s The Verdict.

Kah won last year’s Doncaster on Cascadian and is looking to join Glen Boss as the only rider to win consecutive editions of the Doncaster Mile in the past 25 years.
