Jamie Kah secures Melbourne Cup 2023 ride

Jamie Kah has confirmed her commitment to riding More Felons in the upcoming Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 7.

The five-year-old import, trained by Chris Waller, impressed with a fifth-place finish in the Geelong Cup, leaving the camp confident in his potential at Flemington.

Owner Richard Pegum, who purchased More Felons as a birthday gift for his business partner Paul Henry, hails the horse as one of the best imports he’s acquired.

Kah is set to gallop with More Felons at Flemington, and her choice has garnered praise from Pegum.

Kah was initially scheduled to ride First Immortal but will now steer More Felons after the former was sent to the spelling paddock following a Geelong race.

Valiant King, her previous Melbourne Cup prospect, remains uncertain for the race, prompting Kah to seek a guaranteed Cup ride with a lightweight option.

More Felons, a $31 chance with online bookmakers, will carry 50.5kg in the Melbourne Cup.
