Moreira will ride Thomas Hobson in the Melbourne Cup
Star Hong Kong jockey Joao Moreira has been booked to ride an International galloper in next months Melbourne Cup.
Trainer Willie Mullins who nearly won the Cup in 2015 with Max Dynamite has booked Joao ‘Magic Man’ Moreira to ride Thomas Hobson in the Melbourne Cup 2017.
“Thomas Hobson and Max Dynamite are over there and the plan is for both to run.
“Joao Moreira is booked to ride Thomas Hobson. We haven’t made a booking for Max Dynamite just yet.” Mullins told RacingPost.com
The Brazilian-born jockey has had his critics whilst racing in Australia with a poor winning strike rate when compared to his riding in Hong Kong but he remains one of the top jockeys in the world.
Thomas Hobson is currently a $26 chance in Melbourne Cup betting with Sportsbet.com.au.
