Joao Moreira will ride Melbourne Cup favourite Constantinople

Champion jockey Joao Moreira has been booked to ride 2019 Melbourne Cup favourite Constantinople.

Constantinople who was set to be ridden by jockey Glen Boss before his suspension will now be ridden by Hong Kong based Joao Moreira.

Joao Moreira was in discussions with Lindsay Park to ride the horse if Glen Boss was not able to get off his suspension on Monday but the star jockey told the training operation he was not prepared to fly to Australia without the ride locked in.

Lindsay Park have decided to book Joao Moreira due to the circumstance so they are not left without a jockey if Glen Boss cannot get his suspension delayed.

Constantinople is the $7 favourite in Melbourne Cup odds.
