Top Queensland jockey Stathi Katsidis has been found dead at his home this morning.
Katsidis, who was due to ride Shoot Out in the Cox Plate this Saturday and the Melbourne Cup in two weeks, was 31.
The news has come as a massive shock to the racing industry.
He is survived by his partner Melissa and their son Brooklyn.
UPDATE 1: The Daily Telegraph is saying that he died of a drug overdose.
He was found by his girlfriend late last night.
The news shocked Shoot Outรขโฌโขs trainer John Wallace, who had his phone switched off due to his Cox Plate commitments this morning.
A new jockey for Shoot Out has yet to be confirmed.
