Jockey John Allen who over the past year had great success riding for the now banned Darren Weir and Jarrod McLean has spoken out to defend his ride on Trap For Fools in the Mackinnon Stakes which has come under scrutiny on social media.
Allen’s ride on the Jarrod McLean trained Trap For Fools in the Mackinnon Stakes has come under the microscope after numerous social media posts suggest the jockey ‘suspiciously’ changes his riding pattern to hit the horse on the neck which is an action that can be used for horses who have been trained with jiggers.
“I’ve heard the rumours, but unfortunately that’s just the way I ride. I don’t think I changed my style particularly. I think they’re trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
“I’ve got nothing to worry about. They can ask me questions, but I don’t believe I’ve got anything to answer for.” John Allen told the Herald Sun
