Magic Millions hopeful Emtevee Queen thrashed Boom Shucka when they met last month, but her trainer Kevin Kemp believes it won’t be so easy at Doomben on Saturday.
The two promising juveniles meet again in the 4-Game Flexi Membership Handicap (1050m).
Emtevee Queen came from last to beat Boom Shucka by three lengths when they clashed at Toowoomba on October 24.
Boom Shucka won by five lengths at Doomben last Saturday and trainer Liam Birchley has elected to back him up.
Kemp believes Boom Shucka has improved lengths since a Toowoomba clash with Emtevee Queen.
“Boom Shucka was very green and wanted to run about. I am not treating him lightly,” Kemp said.
“This will be a real test for Emtevee Queen. She won a trial well and then her only start was impressive.”
“But I really want to get her out to 1200 metres.”
Kemp is aiming Emtevee Queen at the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9 but isn’t getting ahead of himself.
“Everybody says it but it is true. You never know with two-year-olds. After Saturday Emtevee Queen might need another run or she might need a spell.”
“You have to be careful with them,” he said.
