Krispyn dreams a lot for top return

Sir Dreamalot took trainer Joshua Krispyn on the ride of a lifetime earlier this year in the autumn and he’s hopeful that experience can continue at Belmont on Saturday.

Sir Dreamalot won two races in his maiden campaign and gave Krispyn his biggest win in racing after taking out the Listed Supremacy Stakes (1000m) at Ascot.

Proving that win was no fluke he then ran a cracking second to boom juvenile Bustling in the Perth Stakes (1100m) before his two-year-old season ended unplaced in the Karrakatta Plate (1200m).

Sir Dreamalot hasn’t raced for five months, but after a quiet trial, he’s set to resume and launch his three-year-old season in the Ascot Opening Day 12th Of October Plate (1000m) at Belmont on Saturday.

“I was pretty happy with the trial and I just asked Brad (Parnham) to give him a soft trial,” Krispyn said on Tabradio.’

“He went through the line within himself and all the reports from Brad were positive.

“The way he pulled up was pleasing going forward.

“I was going to trial him again and go first up in the Max Simmonds (1000m), but the way he pulled up and trialed up I thought I’d go to the races and give me a bit more of a look before the better races.”

Sir Dreamalot lumps the 59.5kg topweight on his return and Krispyn admits it’s a minor worry.

“Obviously a little bit of a concern, but he carries me around when I gallop him and that and he does that pretty easy,” Krispyn said.

“I don’t think the weights going to be too much of a problem, he’s got that for a reason and I suppose Saturday we’ll find out.”

Following top exploits and showing up as a juvenile, Krispyn has high hopes Sir Dreamalot can come back and tackle feature races as a three-year-old.

“He’s grown a little, but has really strengthened up,” Krispyn said.

“In his work he’s definitely a lot stronger than what he was last prep.

“He’s got the ability there, it’s just if he can go on with it.

“The plan is the Max Simmonds, the Placid Ark Prelude and the Placid Ark.

“Anything can change and he has to come back and be competitive to go down that path.

“We’ll wait and see how he runs tomorrow (Saturday) and go from there.”

Sir Dreamalot meets a field of six rivals and from barrier three will be in the hands of Brad Parnham.

He’s the $2.65 Tabtouch favourite ahead of Queen Of Hawks ($3.10) and Keep Ita Mystery ($3.50), who has been backed in from $11.

Queen Of Hawks is on debut for Dan and Ben Pearce and commands respect after winning her trial by four lengths.
