Golden Slipper-winning filly Lady Of Camelot is gearing up for her next big challenge in the inaugural $3 million The Sunlight (1100m) at the Gold Coast on January 4.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse, the three-year-old is set to trial over 800m at Hawkesbury on Monday with Tim Clark aboard to fine-tune her preparation. Blake Shinn will take the reins for The Sunlight.
Lady Of Camelot enjoyed a standout spring campaign, finishing third in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and The Moir Stakes, as well as a strong fourth in The Everest.
Waterhouse is optimistic about the lucrative opportunity.
βItβs a lucrative slot race, so our plan is to go north to Queensland and then work out what her program will be for the rest of her campaign after that,β Waterhouse told Racing.com.
Owned by Go Bloodstock Australia, Lady Of Camelot has already amassed over $5.25 million in career earnings.
Following The Sunlight, her autumn plans remain flexible and will be determined by her condition and performance.
