Racing Victoria has announced that Deny Knowledge and Young Werther will undergo re-inspections by veterinarians on Friday ahead of Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup. The decision comes after vets noticed changes in the gait of both horses during Thursday’s routine inspections.
Deny Knowledge, who secured an impressive all-the-way win in the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes last Saturday, is currently listed as a $12 chance for the Caulfield Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Young Werther, trained by Danny O’Brien, is priced at $21 with betting sites.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Racing Victoria stewards confirmed the re-inspections, expressing concerns about the horses’ movement. Both horses will undergo further evaluations today, with updates expected as the final decision on their fitness is made.
RV veterinarians today commenced their pre-race inspections of horses accepted to run in Saturday’s Sportsbet Caulfield Cup (2400m).
