Last start Group 1 winner Deny Knowledge faces another Racing Victoria veterinary inspection before starting in the Caulfield Cup.
Deny Knowledge, who last start defeated Mr Brightside in the Group 1 Might And Power (2000m) at Caulfield last week, was inspected by RV vets on Thursday who had noticed a change in the horse’s gait.
A follow up inspection on Friday did not satisfy RV vets who have given the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained mare until scratching time of 7.30am on Saturday to determine Deny Knowledge’s suitability to race in the Group 1 handicap over 2400m.
Vets gave the Danny O’Brien-trained Young Werther, who like Deny Knowledge had a change in his gait, the all-clear to start following a re-examination on Friday while the two international gallopers, Warp Speed and Sayedaty Sadaty, were passed fit to start following their inspection earlier on Friday.
Positivity has been withdrawn after the mare was replated on Thursday with trainer Andrew Forsman not happy with the mare’s fitness to start.
The scratching of Positivity paves the way for Fancy Man to gain a start with Queensland-based Ron Stewart to take the ride.
Deny Knowledge is currently a $14 chance in Caulfield Cup odds with betting sites in Australia.
