Let’s Galahvant: the horse that every trainer would love to have in their stable.

The Galah gelding is no superstar, but he’s very honest, versatile with above average ability who rarely runs a bad race.

In 41 starts for the Pearce brothers, Dan and Ben, he’s collected 12 wins and 12 placings to move closer to the $1 million prizemoney mark.

He cracked black-type status for the first time in the Listed Hannans Handicap (1400m) two years ago and has carried on since in feature races.

He won the Listed Northam Cup (1600m), Listed Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m) before scaling his biggest heights in the Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m).

Not seen officially since June, Ben Pearce said he was very much looking forward to seeing the return of Let’s Galahvant ahead of Ascot’s Pinnacles carnival.

“He’s tough as nails and hasn’t let us down,” Pearce said to Tabtouch.

“Every prep he’s fronted up in good races and he’s got wins on the board.

“He really surprised us last prep when he came through and got up to winning a Group race (Strickland Stakes) at 2000m.

“He’s very versatile which opens a big door as far as which way you can go with races.”

One of those races being considered by the Pearce brothers is Ascot’s famous mile, the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m), worth $1.5 million in November and an event that’s proven elusive.

“We’ll look at going through the Railway,” Pearce said.

“The last two years we’ve tried to get a run and he’s just missed out.”

Pearce also hasn’t ruled out targeting the Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day.

“Yeah, quite possibly, a race like the Ted Van Heemst (2100m),” Pearce said.

“That could be pretty well suited as well.”

Pearce said Let’s Galahvant only had a short break after finishing third to Come Right Back in the South West (2200m) last June.

“We don’t like leaving them out for too long,” Pearce said.

“He’s a horse that does well in the stables.

“We like to keep him ticking over here.

“He had three weeks off and is back into work.

“He’s handling everything really well.

“He’s one of those horses that you wish you had a stable full of them.

“He’s as tough as nails, fronts up every time and tries his hardest.”

In Tabtouch future markets, Let’s Galahvant is $21 for the Railway and $15 in The Gold Rush.
