Matt Hill, the renowned Australian sports broadcaster, is on the verge of realizing his lifelong dream as he prepares to call races at the prestigious Royal Ascot.
He will be responsible for calling the first four races each day, covering the feature races and those featuring Australian contenders.
“I’ve always wanted to do it.” Hill said.
“Every jockey wants to ride there, every trainer wants to have a winner there, why can’t race callers aim to call there?”
Having called races in 13 countries, Hill has developed a deep appreciation for international racing.
English racing holds a special place in his heart, making Royal Ascot a significant milestone.
“It’s such a beautiful racecourse and such a massive racecourse, to have a small part in it is going to be lovely and doing it in a bespoke way for Australia, it’s unique, it’ll be really different, but I can’t wait, I’m counting the days down.” Hill said.
Hill also highlighted the camaraderie among race callers at Royal Ascot, where they can see and interact with each other throughout the day.
