Melbourne Cup horses pass vet checks

Group One winner Warning and mare Oceanex have been cleared to take their place in the Melbourne Cup after passing veterinary examinations.

The pair had both been under injury clouds but were deemed fit when inspected by Racing Victoria vets on Friday.

However, Warning will need to pass another health check on Saturday as a precaution.

Steel Prince, Nickajack Cave, Platinum Invader and Skyward were also examined on Friday and given the green light to run.

RV vets conducted fitness inspections on the top 35 horses in the Melbourne Cup order of entry and only the Mike Moroney-trained Chapada, who sits at number 35, failed the test.

He will be re-examined on Saturday ahead of the 4.30pm (AEST) acceptance deadline.
