Caulfield and Melbourne Cup hero Without A Fight is back in Melbourne following an unsuccessful run in the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase.
Currently in quarantine at Mickleham, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained stayer will rejoin the stable next week.
“He’s good,” Sam Freedman told racing.com.
“He’ll get out [of quarantine] next week, and we’ll go over him to see how he is, but the signs are positive he’s travelled back to Melbourne well.”
Without A Fight’s Hong Kong trip was his first blemish since joining the Freedman stable.
Entering the Vase as second favourite, he finished second-last, a sharp contrast to his stellar Australian record.
In 2023, he claimed the Brisbane Winter Carnival double before becoming the first horse since Ethereal in 2001 to secure the Caulfield Cup – Melbourne Cup double.
Despite the Vase result, the Freedmans remain confident.
