The Boss Lady is on track to take her spot in Saturday’s Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) at Ascot and trainer Michael Lane is optimistic the Street Boss mare can score a maiden black type victory in an open and even edition of the race.
Michael Lane’s confidence in The Boss Lady, who hasn’t been beaten in two second up attempts, is founded on her improvement after a sound effort to finish fourth behind rising talent Jokers Grin when resuming over 1000m at Ascot two weeks previously.
“She’s come back really well,” Lane said on Tabradio.
“Obviously, coming back, it’s always a concern if they kick up or lose ability somehow.
“But, she’s comeback well and improved a touch from her three-year-old year.
“We’re really happy with her so far and she’s definitely come on since her first up run.
“Whatever she does tomorrow (Saturday) she’ll improve again.
“She’s a big girl and doing enormous in the stable.”
After drawing wide and going back on her return, Lane hopes ace jockey Chris Parnham can take full toll of a perfect gate when she jumps from barrier three.
“Hopefully she can hold a position somewhere,” Lane said.
“From that gate she can use the barrier.
“She can be a little closer than she usually is.”
Tabtouch punters can’t separate The Boss Laby and Toropa, both sharing $5.50 favouritism with betting sites.
After winning her first five races, Toropa is out to end a run of three consecutive seconds.
From barrier six she has Brad Parnham as her partner.
Twain’s Angel is $6, Laced Up Heels $7, Baby Paris $8.50 and Generosity $9.50 with bookmakers.
Meanwhile, in the R.J.Peters Stakes (1500m), Lane saddles up Rusty Dreams and with the addition of blinkers he thinks the mare can give the Group 3 feature a big shake.
Rusty Dreams, a winner of the Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m) a year ago, ran on strongly for sixth behind Super Smink in last Saturday week’s Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m).
Lane believes the daughter of Universal Ruler is going as well as he can have her.
“I thought she hit the line good enough,” Lane said.
“This field isn’t as good as the last field.
“The 1500m will suit her even better.
“We’ve put the shades on for this and she’s definitely sharpened up.
“We’re quietly confident she can run a good race.”
Rusty Dreams has drawn barrier two and will be in the hands of Clint Johnston-Porter.
She’s $8.50 with Tabtouch, Luvnwar the $3.40 favourite.
