Nick Ryan’s stable star Munhamek is set to race in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on August 17, following his impressive victory in the Listed Winter Championship Series Final, his third consecutive win.
“He pulled up super,” Ryan told racing.com.
“He was at the beach this morning and will head to Fulmen Park for the week.”
The absence of Mr Brightside, who dominated the Lawrence Stakes for the past two years, boosts Munhamek’s chances.
“No Mr Brightside is a big help,” Ryan noted.
Future plans for Munhamek include potential runs in the Toorak or Epsom Handicaps, based on his strong 1600m performances.
“I’ll speak to the boss, Hutchi, and we’ll come up with a plan,” Ryan added.
Despite a busy season, Munhamek thrives under light breaks rather than long spells, a strategy that has kept him in top form.
Online bookmakers list Munhamek at $17 for the Toorak Handicap in October.
