Nadal set for $1m Supernova on Pakenham Cup day

Rising sprint star Nadal will target the $1 million Supernova at Pakenham on December 21, following his commanding victory in the $1 million Meteorite at Cranbourne last Saturday.

Trainer Ciaron Maher has confirmed Nadal will again run under his slot for the Southside Racing summer series.

The Supernova marks Nadal’s second attempt at 1400m, having struggled over the distance in last year’s Group 1 Golden Rose.

However, Maher is confident the gelding is now primed for success.

“He’s a horse that has had a few little niggles along the way. He was gelded, and with just a bit of time and patience, he’s really starting to hit his straps,” Maher said.

Future plans for Nadal include potential autumn sprints such as the Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap, with Queensland’s winter riches also on the radar.

Maher added, “There are a million reasons to have a crack,” as Nadal continues to deliver on his immense promise.
