Group 1 winning jockey Noel Callow has been issued with seven charges by Racing Victoria which relate to alleged betting activity and alleged dishonest and misleading behaviour.

His alleged wrongdoing covers a period from 2013 to 2019 when Callow was based in Victoria.

The charges Callow will have to answer to are reportedly over twenty-four alleged bets and there is also one charge, according to a Newscorp report, which is refers to alleged ‘corruption, dishonesty and misleading behaviour’.

Callow relocated to the Gold Coast in the first half of 2021 where he almost immediately began making merry, dominating the riding ranks at the glitter strip track to the extent that he took out the 2021/22 Gold Coast Jockey’s Premiership with fifty-three winners, a full twenty-three winners more than the second placed Jag Guthmann-Chester and six more winners than the combined total number of wins of the next three jockeys on the ladder.

During all of this time, “King” Callow has preferred to keep to his Gold Coast domain since relocating, only rarely leaving the provincial setting to travel to Brisbane, as reflected by the fact that he finished twenty-fifth in the Metropolitan Jockey’s standings with nine winners.
