Oisin Murphy offered All Star Mile ride

Champion jockey Oisin Murphy has been offered the ride aboard the Anabel Neasham-trained Laws of Indices for the $5 million All Star Mile at Moonee Valley next Saturday. Murphy is awaiting clearance of his Visa to make his return Down Under after three years. Neasham expressed her excitement about having Murphy ride Laws of Indices and is currently working on getting his Visa approved.

“He is obviously a super star jockey and has won races all over the world and he is very keen to come out and ride him,” Neasham said.

“We are just working on getting his visa across the line, it’s a little bit tight but providing we can get that sorted he will be heading over just for the weekend.”

Murphy has previously ridden 13 winners in Australia, two of which were achieved at The Valley circuit. The Irish owners of the horse are thrilled about Murphy’s return, even though it will be a short visit.

“It will be a quick visit and with some of the original Irish owners still in the horse I think they were pretty excited at the thought of him coming up to ride him,” Neasham said.

Laws of Indices is a $17 chance with Ladbrokes and will be competing against Anamoe, whom he has encountered at both runs this season. The horse is returning to The Valley for the first time since finishing eighth in the Cox Plate last year.

Stablemate My Oberon has also secured a wildcard entry into the All-Star Mile. This gives Neasham two chances to go back-to-back in the race following Zaaki’s victory last year. However, connections are still searching for a suitable strong rider for the horse’s upcoming races, following an injury to Ethan Brown who rode the horse first-up from a spell.
