Two horses on summer winning streaks have formed part of a winning treble for jockey Josh Parr at Randwick.
Parr notched his first winner of the day on Saturday aboard the Joe Pride-trained short-priced betting apps favourite Accredited in the Toyota Forklifts Handicap (1400m) before bringing up his second win of the afternoon aboard the Bjorn Baker-trained Disneck.
Accredited and Disneck have been in fine form so far this summer with the pair both now winning their past three starts.
Disneck was backing up from an impressive win at Randwick seven days earlier and he got the job done again in Saturday’s Precise Air Handicap (1200m), overhauling his rivals from back in the field to score by 1-3/4-lengths.
Parr was full of praise for the way Accredited put his rivals away by four lengths in a small field, and likewise he was suitably impressed with Disneck who he said was in “rare form” at the moment.
“There’s a very particular way you have to ride him, and that’s extremely negative in the first section in the race,” Parr said of Disneck.
“It’s difficult to do in a situation where there’s no speed in the race but I have to trust his turn of foot.
“He was really good today.”
The jockey brought up his winning treble aboard the Chris Waller-trained Unlimited who burst through a gap late to take out the Asahi Super Dry Handicap (2000m).
Parr said five-year-old Unlimited enjoyed a nice run in transit and settled well stepping up to 2000m second-up.
“I just needed an ounce of luck at the top of the straight,” Parr said.
“It was going to open up for us and then it slightly closed. I had to wait for the gap to appear again and thankfully he had the bravery and the turn of foot to go through there and win.”
