Trainer Symon Wilde has outlined an ambitious autumn campaign for promising mare Plenty Of Ammo, focusing initially on mares-only Group races with the potential to step into open Group 1 contests if her condition and performance warrant it.
Plenty Of Ammo has been back in work for three weeks following a strong spring campaign.
She claimed victory in the Group 2 Crystal Mile at The Valley and narrowly missed in the Listed Headquarters Stakes at Flemington, before finishing ninth in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes. Her career record stands at an impressive five wins from eight starts.
Wilde has earmarked the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at The Valley on March 22 as her likely next target. “We want to win another Group race…against her own sex. We want to build-up and consolidate her record,” he told Racing.com.
If her form justifies it, Plenty Of Ammo could step up to the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes or even stretch to 2000 metres for the Australian Cup.
“Everything is on the table though,” Wilde added, emphasising his flexibility in mapping out her campaign.
