The Charlie Fellowes trained Prince Of Arran has been guaranteed a start in the Melbourne Cup after receiving a 1kg penalty for his Geelong Cup win.
Prince Of Arran has jumped up the Melbourne Cup order after he was penalised 1kg for yesterday’s Geelong Cup win giving him 54kg for the 2019 Melbourne Cup.
The penalty now sees Prince Of Arran sit at number twenty three in order with only two spots left on offer those being the winner of the Cox Plate and the winner of Saturday weeks Lexus Stakes.
The winners of both the ballot exempt races need to be in current Melbourne Cup nominations so the only way Prince Of Arran can miss a run in the Cup is if Kings Will Dream wins the 2019 Cox Plate and the winner of the Lexus holds a Cup nomination.
Prince Of Arran was $19 in BetEasy’s Cup market prior to the release of the penalty and has shortened into $17.
