Pure Elation’s standing as one of the leading Blue Diamond Stakes prospects will get its first examination when the filly makes her debut at Caulfield.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Pure Elation is on the second line of TAB fixed odds betting at $11 for next month’s Group One Blue Diamond.
Pure Elation impressed winning a Sydney barrier trial last spring with Michael Walker aboard and also won a jump-out stylishly at Werribee 10 days ago.
Walker has the ride on Pure Elation who is the $3.30 favourite in Saturday’s Group Three Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for fillies.
“She’s done everything right up to date,” Peter Snowden said.
“She’s been very precocious, a natural running type.”
Snowden has won three Blue Diamonds including one in partnership with his son Paul.
He gave Pure Elation more time to mature after two spring trials with a view to her hopefully measuring up in the Blue Diamond series.
“She spelled really well, put the necessary weight on I wanted her to and she’s coming along nicely,” he said.
“I expect her to run well, albeit it’s her first start and there’s a lot of unknowns in the race.
“I’ve been really happy with her and I was very impressed with her last 200 metres of her trial at Werribee.
“She ran a bit of time and to the eye she did it very comfortably.”
Snowden said the grey filly, by I Am Invincible out of Members Joy, was showing the sort of ability to be a Blue Diamond prospect but needed to produce it on race day and keep stepping up.
“I’m a great believer in sitting back and watching and see what happens,” he said.
“All the signs are there. We’ve just got to see her do it.”
The stable also has a chance in Saturday’s Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings, with Invincible Lad resuming from a spell.
Snowden said Invincible Lad went too hard in front on debut after drawing wide in the Breeders Plate which left the colt a sitting shot late, finishing ninth.
“I’m really impressed with what he’s done since he’s come back,” Snowden said.
“His work has been good. He has thickened up and strengthened up all over.
“Had a trial at Gosford and another at Werribee and both were solid trials. He’s there to run well off a good draw on Saturday.”
