Queensland apprentice jockey Tessa Townsend was fined $2000 and suspended from race riding for six months following a post-race altercation with fellow apprentice Savannah McCann at Longreach on Monday.
The altercation involved physical contact, with Townsend allegedly grabbing and pushing McCann against the female jockeys’ room door.
Townsend was charged with misconduct and improper conduct under AR228(b).
Additionally, she was found guilty of conduct prejudicial to the image of racing for allegedly striking McCann in full public view.
The stewards suspended Townsend’s license for six months, with three months suspended for two years pending no further breaches.
