Racing Victoria (RV) has announced a full-scale review of the jumps racing industry, led by the newly-formed Jumps Review Group (JRG).
The group, chaired by RV’s Executive General Manager – Integrity Jamie Stier, will assess various aspects of the sport, including its future viability, with recommendations due by the end of November.
Justice Jack Forrest, former Supreme Court Judge, has joined the JRG as an independent member, providing further oversight.
The review will focus on safety, participation, financial performance, and community sentiment.
RV chairman Tim Eddy acknowledged recent concerns, stating, “The events of the final meeting at Ballarat were heartbreaking… this thorough review has commenced this week, and no outcome is off the table.”
Public submissions will be accepted, ensuring a comprehensive examination of jumps racing’s role in Victoria, with the final report to be submitted to the RV board by December.
