Rare slots available in The Western Trilogy

Racing and Wagering Western Australia Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards said the original 32 slot holders overwhelmingly chose to stay connected to the state’s richest racing weekend and signed up for the next three years.

“Slots in the world’s first and only tri-code slot race series are proving to be greatly valued and tightly held,” Ian said.

“Our inaugural slot holders held an option to renew their involvement for a further three-years and almost all have seized the chance.

“A very limited number of slots have become available in The Quokka and The Sandgroper next year, while the Nullarbor is expected to remain fully subscribed.

“The three races have been a huge success and the prize money is rising to a total of nearly $7 million in 2024, which makes this a rare and tempting opportunity.”

The prize pool recently increased across The Quokka, The Sandgroper and The Nullarbor slot races.

The Quokka breaks its own record next year as the biggest prize ever offered in West Australian racing by jumping to $5 million.

The $1 million Nullarbor rises to $1.25 million, becoming the second richest harness race in Australia and The Sandgroper for greyhounds goes up from $500,000 to $600,000.

“The Western Trilogy has been a highlight of this year and generated $6 million of economic value for Western Australia,” Ian said.

“Importantly, bringing all three racing codes together for a unique and innovative racing carnival also captured the interest of race fans nationwide.

“We have asked the slot holders to sign up for a three-year commitment until 2026 to give the series stability into the future.”
