Nash Rawiller to appeal careless riding ban

Nash Rawiller has lodged an appeal against the severity of a careless riding suspension which threatens to rule him out of Sydney’s first Group One meeting.

The top jockey was outed for seven meetings for his winning ride aboard Eduardo in the Missile Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

It was his second suspension of the afternoon after he was earlier banned for seven days for overuse of the whip aboard his other Rosehill winner Desert Path.

Rawiller began his whip penalty immediately and the addition of the careless riding suspension would sideline him until September 1, ruling him out of the Group One Winx Stakes program at Randwick on August 22.

His appeal will be heard on Friday, a day after jockey Adam Hyeronimus and stablehand Blake Paine face charges of providing false or misleading evidence to stewards as part of a betting inquiry.

Hyeronimus was last month charged with 30 betting offences and faces a minimum two year disqualification.

He has been permitted to continue riding until his penalty hearing and has a right of appeal.
